It was one dark, autumnal evening, and I was in my study, researching a paper on Egyptian mythology for my upcoming Classics degree exams, when there came a most peculiar scratching at the door. Cautiously, I got up from my desk and made my way to the door. As I undid the locks and chain, I could hear the scratching getting louder and more impatient. And then, as I finally pulled open the door, there stood a black cat.

The cat didn't meow or run away like most cats do; instead, it just stared at me with its eerie green eyes. And then it spoke. "Ed Jones," it said in a deep, commanding voice, "you will service me."

At first, I thought that the cat had somehow managed to learn how to speak English. But then I realized that its mouth wasn't moving; rather, the words were coming from somewhere inside my head. The cat continued to stare at me intently as if waiting for an answer, but I just stood there dumbfounded.

Finally recovered from my initial shock, I tried to shut the door on the black cat but found that its body was blocking it from closing. "You will serve me," the cat repeated insistently. "Or else you will suffer the curse of the black cat."

The controls are simple – tap and hold to move around, interact with objects, and talk to people. You can also double-tap to run if you need to get somewhere in a hurry. Early on in the game you'll come across your first weapon, a magic staff that can be used to cast spells. To use it just tap and draw a line from Ed to what you want him to shoot at. The story

The story starts out with Ed getting kidnapped by his classmate whilst attending a party at his house. He wakes up in an abandoned building deep in the city sewers with no idea what's going on. Along the way he meets all sorts of colourful characters who help or hinder him depending on their motives.

The story is well written and keeps you interested throughout. There are plenty of twists and turns along the way, as well as some pretty satisfying moments near the end. It also features some hilarious moments that had me laughing out loud. All in all I was very impressed with it.

The gameplay

As I mentioned before, the gameplay is mainly based around puzzles. There are all sorts of different kinds scattered throughout the game world, ranging from simple ones like pushing crates onto buttons to more complex ones like figuring out how to get across a room full of lasers without getting killed. Thankfully there's usually a hint system available if you get stuck for too long, although it's not always entirely clear what the hints are trying to tell you!

There are also some stealth sections thrown in for good measure, but thankfully these aren't too common or difficult. The combat sections are also relatively straightforward; just dodge enemy attacks until you can get in close enough to hit them with your weapon or spell. Overall I thought the gameplay was well executed and enjoyable overall.
